We invite lay pastor Tom Kay, with our sister congregation, Joslyn Avenue, to lead our worship service with the theme: All Saints Day! Tom Kay will be preaching on the subject “the communion of the saints” and together we will host a joint communion service to capture the spirit of this day!
A wonderful hospitality hour is being sponsored by the Joslyn folks with a special highlight of favorite Polish dishes! You won’t want to miss this unique occasion!

ST ANDREW’S DAY CELEBRATION, featuring our favorite bagpiper Allistair Hill, our youth carrying our Confessional Banners in worshipful procession, our choirs participating in leading our church family in Scottish hymns and psalms of praise, and inviting everyone to our catered roast beef dinner in the fellowship hall following the service. This year an added musical feature will be provided by our worship committee and Allistair: a talented team of Scottish Dancers for our entertainment during the dinner! Pastor Hartley will speak on the gospel of Mark 12:44 “Giving God What We Have!”

Our New Wilmington Youth will sponsor their monthly Mission Brunch following worship, CE will make a stewardship report, our confirmation class will meet today, and the Praise Team will host their evening Praise Service at 7 p.m. Pastor Hartley will speak on the SONG OF HANNAH, 1 Samuel 2:1-10!

Christ the King Sunday, the culmination of the Christian calendar lifting up the final reign of Christ! It is our Sunday to focus on the theme of THANKSGIVING on this fourth Sunday of November! Our committee will sponsor the ‘hanging of the greens’ on this day to prepare for the beginning of Advent Season (Nov 29) Pastor Hartley will speak on 2 Samuel 23:3 Christ as the Just Ruler appointed by God.

First Sunday of Advent. We begin the Advent season with an observance of Holy Communion, and welcome the return of our annual Chrismon Tree in the chancel! Pastor Hartley will speak on the topic of ‘the Kingdom of God is near.’ (Gospel of Luke 21:31)
The second Sunday of Advent we will enjoy our 3rd annual Chrismon slide presentation!
St. Joseph’s Hospital is looking for volunteers to provide comfort and care to their patients and guests. Then need help on all floors, greeters, and office help. There are perks, in addition to the feeling you get from helping. They give free flu shots and TB tests, lunches can be earned, and two Volunteer Luncheons a year. If you are interested, please contact them at 248-858-3035 for further information.
Charlie’s Coats will be collected on a table in the narthex from October 18 through November 15. Gently used coats & jackets for adults and children will be distributed to the needy.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive will be held October 18 through November 15. The donations will go to Lighthouse North.
Christmas is coming! And, once again the Mission Committee will be sponsoring the “angel tree” through Lighthouse North. The tree with gift tags will be set up in the dining room starting Sunday, Nov. 15th. More information will be forthcoming in the Sunday church bulletins.
